How to get started with internet telephony

Internet calls with Vonage are different

Traditionally, internet phones allow you to make calls from one computer to another, using a headset. The drawback is that you have to be at your computer in order to make internet calls. Vonage's internet phone service is different. It uses our small and portable Vonage Box™ to connect your home phone to your broadband modem or router. Vonage routes calls over your broadband connection, just like most internet phone service providers. The difference is that you make and receive cheap calls from your normal home phone.

In practice, this means two things.
