The benefits of unlimited calls

Once you know that calls within your call plan are unlimited, it changes everything. For a start, no one ever needs to watch the clock, and there are no more family rows about phone bills because your monthly bill won't change. You can stay in touch with people and keep up-to-date with their news whenever you want to. And some call plans even include calls to mobiles, too. Unlimited calling makes it easier to budget as well, because your costs are capped.

Vonage and unlimited calls

Calls to geographic landline numbers in our unlimited international call plans are unlimited. The vast majority of our customers won't ever be affected by this. According to Ofcom's report (2009), the UK's telecommunications watchdog, people spend less than 700 minutes a month on the telephone. We do, though, want to avoid misuse, because that would inevitably drive prices up for our customers. This is why, as with all phone service providers, we have a fair use policy. This policy means that Vonage can continue to offer extremely low cost call plans, and protect our customers against the effects of any misuse.

And remember that all Vonage-to-Vonage calls are completely inclusive and therefore don't count towards your monthly talk-time limit.

Big changes in the telecoms industry

These days, customers expect a lot from their telecommunications services. Gone are the days when you paid handsomely to have a telephone line installed, or were charged to change the line over to a new name, and then obliged to pay rent on my telephone line. Gone are the days when you paid for your phone calls on the per minute basis. Things have changed dramatically, thanks to internet home technology, which can now offer unlimited phone calls for everyone.

Consumers are increasingly prepared to switch provider in order to find the best deals, which drives down the costs of making calls. More and more people are turning to the Internet and unlimited calling, both at home and in business.

As a result, competition has increased, and internet phone service providers increasingly try to find ways to attract new customers and offer unlimited calls. Service providers often bundle services together. They offer discounted telephone calls along with broadband subscription and, sometimes, television subscription. Providers may offer a range of different bundle options, including unlimited phone calls to the UK, or unlimited international calls, unlimited mobile calls etc. Or they may offer free calls at certain times of the day, or at the weekend.
