With offices in the UK and Spain, this businessman gained a sense of control

John, a director for a property and recruitment company, is a busy man. His company, Richard Bailey Associates, has a head office in London, and satellite office in Cadiz, Spain. So John splits most of his time between the UK and Spain. Staying in touch with colleagues and clients used to be a nightmare. 'I'd have to carry lots of equipment and juggle different handsets,' he said. 'Then I'd have to remember to tell people when I would be in Spain, and on what number,' he said. 'People were sometimes reluctant to call. Even though making cheap international calls can be easy these days, clients still don't like calling long-distance.' As well as being a bit messy, the old set-up was also becoming increasingly expensive.

It was time to streamline and cut costs. John looked into making calls using VoIP and quickly opted for Vonage as his service provider. He has never looked back. 'Now, it's so different. In terms of equipment, all I have to carry is one small device. I simply plug my handset into the device, and then connect that into my computer. It's so easy.'
