Vonage offered Wayne the flexibility he needed
Wayne Gowen is co-owner of Jaynes Blinds, a Yorkshire-based business that manufactures window blinds, curtains and carpets.
It's an absolutely essential communication tool.
Jaynes Blinds operate in various areas in Yorkshire, and it was imperative that each has a local phone number. Wayne explains, "The blinds industry is very competitive, so communication to me is hugely important. We needed virtual numbers to ensure that we had a hyper local presence in the eight cities we operate in."
Vonage offered Wayne the flexibility he needed, enabling the business to work using multiple numbers from just one phone; It's important for people to feel they are ringing someone local to them," Wayne clarifies, "If they're ringing an 0800 number they feel like they're ringing a large multi-national company, whereas with a local number, they feel they're speaking to someone just around the corner. We have virtual Vonage numbers in each area that we operate and advertise in, which gives us the flexibility to work in numerous areas without having to have a physical location."
Vonage even lets Wayne conduct business abroad simply and cost-effectively, through the Vonage Extensions app. "The app is amazing. I go to Las Vegas a lot, and I can conduct calls from my mobile whenever I'm connected to WiFi. If the phone's ringing in the shop, it's ringing on my mobile too – it saves me a fortune in international calls."
Cost is a huge benefit for Wayne; "I chose Vonage because of the price. It's about £27 a quarter*, whereas the BT option was closer to £50. It also makes expansion very easy; we're taking on more areas in the next few weeks, and I'll be able to set up local phone numbers in 24 hours. It's an absolutely essential communication tool."

Jayne's Blinds - Small Business Case Study Video Transcript
My name is Wayne Gowen. I'm co-owner of Jayne's Blinds in Leeds. We manufacture window blinds and we supply domestic customers throughout Yorkshire. The blind industry in Leeds is very competitive. If you did a search on Google, there'd be five, six, seven pages of different companies, so telephone communications, to me, are very important. In fact, every area that we operate and advertise in, we have a virtual Vonage number. It gives us the flexibility to work in areas without necessarily having to have a physical location. And it's important to people that they ring somebody who's local to them. When they ring an 0800 number, people feel like they're ringing a large national company, whereas a local number they feel like they're ringing somebody who's just around the corner.
I chose Vonage because of the price. It's £6 a month*, a virtual number on top of that is £2.99*. The BT option was £40 or £50 a quarter.
The Extensions app is amazing. We go to Las Vegas a lot, and when I go, I've got my Vonage Extensions app on my mobile, which can ring out when I'm connected to Wi-Fi. And if the phone's ringing in the shop, it's ringing on my mobile, too. It saves me a fortune in international calls, and when I ring out, it displays a Vonage number at the other end of the phone, so I can keep my mobile number secret.
We are taking on more areas in the next few weeks. I'm employing another fitter, employing more sales agents and I'm able to set up a new area phone number in a matter of 24 hours. So Vonage makes expansion very, very easy. Absolutely essential communication tool.
For the general service, I would give Vonage five stars out of five. It just works, it's affordable, it's not expensive. I never even look anywhere else.
