Bruce Ballard is Managing Director at Paddock IT Solutions, a company which specialises in outsourced IT management for smaller businesses. From initial design, through purchase to ongoing support and maintenance, Paddock IT Solution's aim is to provide a cost-effective and reliable service. The team of three operate from Bruce's home, based in the country.
The problem – traditional line rental and call charges were too much
Prior to 2013, Bruce was using BT to not only serve his home-line, but also his company's separate lines and phone system. Bruce explains, "Upon reviewing our bills, both the line rental and call charges, the costs were huge". Bruce needed to find a more affordable solution without compromising the professionalism of his business – and without costing him the earth.
The solution – an affordable, reliable set-up from Vonage with added perks
Initially trialling a competitor VoIP solution, Bruce wasn't impressed, the call quality just didn't match his expectations. Bruce then discovered Vonage and hasn't looked back. He comments, "While the savings have been significant – Vonage is around four to five times cheaper than BT – there are added benefits like the transcription service, which transcribes voicemails into text", Bruce goes on to say "If I'm out and about on my mobile, Vonage also enables me to listen to my office voicemail, which means I can ring people back. That is a major step forward and not something that we could do before."
The results – "it just works"
Bruce goes on to detail how easy the product was to set up and maintain, "Setting up was so easy, it took about three minutes, connecting the box took about three minutes and porting my old BT numbers took about three minutes. The website is fantastic, the itemised billing is marvellous, it just works, the whole ease of use is just brilliant."
He concludes, "I'd give them five and a half stars out of five, also on the odd occasion I've called them, they've been absolutely brilliant."
